Blossoming Bulwell Gardening project

.This project was organised by Buzzing Roots CIC and funded by EMR (East Midlands Railway). The project was aimed to connect with the local community of Bulwell to develop a better relationship with their local green spaces. We were given the garden area on train station platform to transform and make a difference. We weeded and cleared the area and planted lots of perninal herbs and flowers. The project aim was to encourage plant diversity to have a positive environmental impact on the green area.

This project aimed to encourage local people to connect to nature and to build social connections to fight loneliness and isolation. At the beginning of the project i provided some creative activities at Bulwell Forest Garden, the supported the project to engage local people who already volunteered at a gardening space. I then partnered up with a local litter picking group to work on the platform space. This then became a regular group. We would meet once a month and the project from from June 2023 up until May 2024.

We also did a one off gardening session with a local scouts group with children ages 6 year-10 years. They made some creative signs for the plants and planted some seeds for the platform garden.
